Expertise France adopts Sage X3 and approved e-invoicing platform to simplify compliance
Expertise France chose to stay within the Sage ecosystem for e-invoicing compliance, using an approved platform that connects directly to Sage X3 without requiring a separate IT project.
Expertise France, a French technical cooperation agency with nearly 2,000 staff across 100+ countries, is upgrading to Sage X3’s latest version and adopting an approved e-invoicing platform. The organization chose to remain in the Sage ecosystem to simplify compliance and avoid a separate IT implementation.
Expertise France, the technical arm of French development cooperation, has chosen to stay within the Sage ecosystem for e-invoicing compliance rather than switch platforms.
The agency, which supports projects financed by the European Union and France’s Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs, runs Sage X3 for all accounting functions. It performs a version upgrade each year to keep users on the latest tools. The current upgrade cycle includes preparation for mandatory e-invoicing.
Mapping use cases before compliance
Malika Ibersiene, IT Project Lead at Expertise France, outlined the three-step approach to e-invoicing readiness.
First, the team mapped all use cases across the organization. This step served two purposes: ensuring the new system could still handle all accounting tasks, and identifying processes that could be improved or standardized.
“We started by looking at the reality of our use cases. We wanted to be sure we could still do all our accounting work. But this mapping also helps us rethink many processes. In the end, we’ll have a more coherent organization with more uniform practices.”

Staying in the Sage ecosystem
Second, Expertise France selected an approved e-invoicing platform. The organization chose to remain within Sage rather than adopt a third-party solution.
“We chose to stay in the Sage ecosystem by signing up for the approved platform. Why? Direct connection to our accounting tool, which means we don’t need a separate IT project. It’s the choice of simplicity and security.”

Third, the team planned an intermediate migration of Sage X3 to reach full compatibility. By anticipating what could be done in advance, Expertise France minimized the effort required.
AI integration on the horizon
Claudia Crochet, Accounting Digitalization Project Lead, and Ibersiene also discussed Sage Copilot, an AI agent integrated into Sage X3. The tool allows users to query databases directly without asking colleagues for data extracts or spending time verifying data quality.
“AI will help us gain a lot of time. It will really change how we use Sage X3. We’re sure we’re only at the beginning. Much remains to be invented, and Sage will certainly deliver ever-improving possibilities.”

Expertise France plans to complete its e-invoicing migration as part of the broader Sage X3 upgrade cycle.
