Gorgy Time upgrades to Sage X3 to meet e-invoicing rules and unlock AI
Gorgy Time, a 50-year-old French clock manufacturer, migrated to Sage X3 to handle e-invoicing compliance and access production management features. The upgrade also brings integrated AI tools to replace manual reporting.
Gorgy Time, an industrial clock maker based in La Mure, France, chose Sage X3 to scale operations and meet e-invoicing rules. The upgrade gives the 40-person firm better production control and access to AI-powered reporting tools.
Gorgy Time, a French manufacturer of industrial clocks for railways, airports, schools, and town halls, has upgraded to the latest version of Sage X3 to meet e-invoicing compliance and unlock new production and AI capabilities.
The company, based in La Mure in the Isère region, employs 40 people and generates 3.5 million euros in annual revenue. Bertrand Couvrat, Sage X3 administrator at Gorgy Time, explained the upgrade strategy in a recent customer interview.
Scaling production management
Gorgy Time chose Sage X3 because the firm needed an ERP that could handle industrial growth. “At a certain point, the company grew in size. We needed a real ERP, and Sage X3 convinced us most,” Couvrat said.
The system now manages finance, accounting, procurement, production, inventory, and sales across the business. Couvrat stressed that staying current with Sage updates is essential. “We pay attention to following the publisher’s recommendations. For example, we just upgraded to the latest version.”
While e-invoicing compliance was a factor, Couvrat said the main driver was access to new production features. “Our primary motivation was access to the latest features, especially those related to production management. Gorgy Time is first and foremost an industrial company.” Sage X3 offers tools for production cost calculation, recipe archiving, and production planning.
Meeting the e-invoicing deadline
France’s e-invoicing mandate takes effect 1 September 2026. Gorgy Time faced a data quality challenge: the firm inherited poor data from its previous ERP system.
“We found ourselves with our backs to the wall because of e-invoicing obligations. But we have an asset: Sage Data Clean & Control, available with the latest version of the ERP.”

Couvrat said the firm is using the e-invoicing reform as an opportunity to clean up its customer and supplier records. For invoice transmission and receipt, Gorgy Time registered with Sage’s approved platform six months before the interview. “We have a partner, we trust that partner. There is no reason to multiply interfaces,” he said.
AI as a reporting tool
Gorgy Time sees Sage Copilot, an AI agent built into Sage X3, as a way to reduce manual work. Couvrat currently spends time building pivot tables and exporting data to meet reporting demands from the parent company.
“I think artificial intelligence will revolutionize many things. So we have to go for it.”

With Sage Copilot, Couvrat expects to replace Excel-based reporting. “It will be faster, simpler, and safer because there will be no more data exports outside the ERP.”
What comes next
Couvrat summed up the upgrade: “We are an industrial company with a strong need to control our manufacturing processes. That was the central point of our requirements. With Sage X3, we have all the clock hands. Perfect production management, built-in e-invoicing compliance, and soon AI to replace Excel.”
