The EU VAT Expert Group met on 25 June 2026 to discuss financial-services taxation, VAT beyond ViDA, and ViDA implementation. The group reviewed draft explanatory notes on the platform economy and digital reporting requirements.

The VAT Expert Group convened on 25 June 2026 with an agenda matching the GFV’s core priorities: financial-services taxation, VAT beyond ViDA, and ViDA implementation. The group reviewed confidential draft explanatory notes on the platform economy and digital reporting requirements.

The EU VAT Expert Group held its 43rd meeting on 25 June 2026, covering three main topics that align with the GFV’s recent agenda.

Core discussion areas

The group reviewed:

  • Financial-services taxation, including presentation of a final report on the taxation of the financial sector
  • VAT beyond ViDA, with presentation of a final report on challenges
  • ViDA (VAT in the Digital Age) package implementation

Draft explanatory notes under review

The Expert Group examined two confidential draft documents:

  • VEG No 137: Second draft explanatory notes on the platform economy
  • VEG No 138: Third draft explanatory notes on Digital Reporting Requirements (DRR)

Full minutes from the meeting will be published in the Expert Groups Register in due course.

The alignment between the VAT Expert Group and the GFV reflects the EU’s coordinated approach to VAT modernisation across digital reporting, platform taxation, and financial-services treatment.
