Tax compliance and pre-filled returns
The core rationale is data-driven simplification. E-receipt data captured through the app would let the tax administration prepare pre-filled VAT returns for an estimated 2 million taxpayers. This mirrors the successful “Twój e-PIT” model already used for personal income tax.
By centralising transaction data, authorities aim to:
- Reduce manual filing effort and errors for small businesses
- Strengthen oversight of retail sales
- Improve accuracy of reported turnover figures
Broader deregulation measures
The package also includes other taxpayer-friendly changes. Late-payment interest would be halved where errors are self-corrected, encouraging voluntary compliance.
Businesses should await final legislation for confirmation of scope, timing, and practical adoption mechanics. The proposal preserves choice by keeping traditional cash registers available for those who prefer them.
