E-invoicing experts to gather in Berlin for Exchange Summit Europe 2026

Leading representatives from government, business, and technology will meet at the E-Invoicing Exchange Summit Europe in Berlin from September 30 to October 2, 2026. The event will address the rapid spread of mandatory e-invoicing across Europe, the EU’s ViDA Directive, and how organisations can navigate an increasingly fragmented regulatory landscape.
Mandatory e-invoicing mandates are accelerating across Europe, prompting international experts to convene in Berlin to discuss the latest developments in digital invoicing.
Several countries have already implemented e-invoicing mandates, including Belgium, France, Germany, and Poland. Slovakia and Spain are set to follow shortly. The UK, Ireland, the Netherlands, and Norway have announced plans to introduce mandates in the coming years. The trend extends beyond Europe, with Latin America, Asia-Pacific, and the Middle East continuing to drive adoption through their own mandates.
Why mandates are spreading
Governments are the primary drivers of this shift. Countries that have already adopted mandatory e-invoicing have seen clear benefits: improved tax compliance, a reduced VAT gap, and better visibility into economic activity. As more countries adopt digital invoicing, others increasingly follow suit.
Interoperability networks such as Peppol have matured significantly, making it easier to exchange electronic invoices between businesses domestically and across borders. The EU’s ViDA Directive, adopted in 2025, will introduce mandatory cross-border e-invoicing and digital reporting for intra-EU transactions from 2030 onwards. For many governments, this provides an opportunity to introduce domestic e-invoicing at the same time.
The Berlin summit
The E-Invoicing Exchange Summit Europe will take place from September 30 to October 2, 2026. The pre-conference day on September 30 will feature workshops by the CEN TC 434 on the revision of the EN 16931, and by Politecnico di Milano covering 2026 research results from the International Observatory on E-Invoicing.
The main event on October 1 and 2 will include:
- Keynotes and expert panels covering the EU’s ViDA initiative and national mandates in Germany, France, Spain, and the UK
- Case studies with practical insights from companies and public sector bodies implementing e-invoicing across Europe and beyond
- Interactive roundtables with engaging discussions
