UK e-invoicing mandate expected in 2029
OpenPeppol has established a UK Working Group to develop a Peppol-compliant invoice specification for a UK e-invoicing mandate expected in 2029, building on BIS 3.0 and the PINT model.
OpenPeppol launched a UK Working Group late last year to prepare for an e-invoicing mandate expected in 2029. The group will develop a baseline invoice specification that is Peppol compliant and meets UK requirements, building on the BIS 3.0 specification already used by the NHS in England.
OpenPeppol established a UK Working Group towards the end of last year to prepare for an e-invoicing mandate expected in 2029.
The group is a member-driven collaborative community of implementers. It includes global and UK-based Peppol Service Providers, industry experts, and government stakeholders. Two members elected by UK WG participants serve as co-chairs.
Specification development
The working group’s objective is to jointly develop a baseline invoice specification. The specification must be Peppol compliant and meet UK requirements. It will build on the BIS 3.0 specification, which is already used by the NHS in England. The initial concept work was based on the PINT model, developed by UK-based stakeholders as a starting point.
OpenPeppol has not announced a timeline for the specification’s completion or further details about the mandate’s scope and implementation date.
